Summit Stories

Giovanna
I think I have it in my head that going down the path [of substances] is not gonna get me where I want to be in life. I feel like making the best decision [around substance use] is determining what you
want for your future.

Diego
I vaped for almost two years. Then, I started playing music with friends, and we realized that we weren't vaping while playing. This helped distract us, so we just kept doing that.

Jazzper
I want to be able to function and make my decisions as myself all the time, and anything that would keep me off that good path would alter that.

Nicotine can affect your brain, mental health, energy, focus, and more.
Quitting it is not easy, either. Cravings, stress, and habits can make it hard to stop, even when you want to.
Discover honest facts about vaping and nicotine, real stories from teens who have quit, and tools that make quitting more manageable.

Opioids & Fentanyl
Engaging in opioid and substance use at a young age can have negative impacts on physical and mental health.
Fentanyl is a strong synthetic opioid drug that is commonly mixed with other drugs such as cocaine, oxycodone, and Adderall. A sand-grain-sized piece of fentanyl is enough to easily kill a person.
Discover honest facts about opioids and fentanyl, how to spot fake pills, places to access free Naloxone (Narcan), and how to administer it.

I Choose My Future is a youth-driven campaign that is here to help you make decisions that allow you to have a healthier, stronger future.
Our goal is to educate Summit County youth on the dangers and health impacts of nicotine, fentanyl, opioids, alcohol, and marijuana. We want to help youth feel confident and safe in navigating life’s hard choices and building themselves a future they’ll be proud of.
